Wizard101 Pandamonium Hoard Pack Review

Wizard101's spring update is live, and with it came a new pack - the Pandamonium Hoard! This MooShu-themed pack introduces more pandas into the Spiral in the form of mounts and pets. Plus, you've got a chance at some cool armor and weapons with new may cast spells! Check out what's in the pack and whether or not it's worth your crowns.

Pandamonium Hoard Pack: What's Inside

We've seen a few pandas in Pirate101's MooShu, but I think this may be the first introduction of the animal into Wizard101. Furthermore, this is the first pack in quite some time that isn't based on an event, holiday, or newer world. MooShu was the last world in the original release of Wizard101 so many years ago... I still remember it!

Panda Mounts & Pets

The highlight of a pack is usually its mount, and in this pack there are three. The Giant Panda, Great Panda, and Grand Panda are all one-person +40% speed mounts available in the pack. Seven-day (40%) and one-day (20%) versions also come from the pack. Each has a different color saddle.

There are also three sets of panda cub pets available - Precious Panda Cubs, Playful Panda Cubs, and Precocious Panda Cubs. These adorable pets are perfect companions to each other (engaging in frequent high-fives and support when failing a pet game) and to any wizard!

Pandamonium Gear

The Pandamonium gear sets are really interesting. They all offer slight variations of current spells as item cards that you can only use once per battle (Reshuffle won't bring them back). The hats and boots offer impressive damage, and the boots in particular are good enough that they will likely find their way into some setups. There are three sets, all of which are pictured below.

Pandamonium Jian Weapons

These sword wands are appropriate for MooShu, where the swords dropped in the world were all the rage early on in the game. They even use the original sword animation that teleports your character to the center of the duel circle. The damage on these wands is getting bigger and bigger. Check out one of the new may casts on the wands.

New Furniture & More

This pack includes at least a few slightly more interesting filler items. These new furniture pieces include Bamboo Chimes, Bamboo Fence, Bamboo Vase, Panda Cub Statue, Panda Portrait, and Pandmonium Banner.

The pack also includes a new Pandarian Hairstyle with panda ears!

Pack Analysis

While it has lots of filler items, the new items, including the mounts, don't seem to be too rare. New gear items tend to show up in the third slot. Permanent mounts show up in the fourth slot. Furniture may appear in various other slots.

Here's the rarity of some of the more notable items in the pack:

  • Epic: Permanent mounts
  • Ultra-Rare: Wands, Robes, 7-day mounts
  • Rare: Hats, Boots, 1-day mounts
  • New furniture items range from Common to Rare

The Verdict

I can't believe that in the few packs I've purchased, I got two of the permanent mounts. While this is likely just luck, it seems like the pack drops things a little easier than others. The furniture items, unlike in past packs, cannot be auctioned. That means if you want them for decoration, you'll need to buy the pack. Ultimately, this is pack to purchase if you like the items, but maybe one that you can skip if not.
