Six Years of Blogging Contest Winners

I recently had a couple of contests and a giveaway while celebrating six years of blogging. Now, the moment you've all been waiting for... the winners!

Six Pics Contest

June 1 - June 15 at 11:59 PM CST
For this contest, participants needed to assemble six pictures from any KingsIsle game and write a short summary of why they chose those six pictures and what memories might be connected to them.

One Grand Prize Winner: 10,000 crowns - Alex Fireblade
Alex went above and beyond with his collage, using the starting wizard creation screen as a base and then adding in his six screenshots. This is not only a creative approach, it's a pretty unique one. Each of Alex's screenshots reflects a relevant and meaningful moment in his wizard journey, from parties to matching mounts to obtaining his One in a Million badge.

First Place: 5,000 crowns - Iridian Willowglen
Beyond her impressive write-up, Iridian captures moments in the Spiral that didn't just impress her, but are some of the most iconic shots of all time. The wizard's name appearing on the Avalon stone and the Ravenwood graduation ceremony are among the most well-loved moments in game. She mixes those, however, with some more unique shots, one of a particularly colorful couch, another of a mount, and two more of some of the game's impressive scenery.

Second Place: 2,500 crowns - Logan Mistspear
Logan's collage is very character-focused, and includes some fun moments from the game's storylines that we all loved as well as get-togethers with friends, with one in particular that's a colorful lineup of matching outfits.

Third Place: 1,000 crowns - Scarlet Firesong
Scarlet's images show her in different areas around the Spiral. Hers is one of the few to incorporate game housing, including her own decorations. She shows off limited-time events as well as house parties.

Battleboard Builder Contest

June 1 - June 15 at 11:59 PM CST
For this contest, participants needed to use the Battleboard Builder tool to create a unique battleboard using only features available there.

Grand Prize: 5,000 crowns - Chase R.
Chase's board is pretty clever for spelling out P101 with exactly enough tiles on the building tool, but even more so for the idea of separated battling areas, forcing each individual companion to fight their own enemies. Here's the interesting thing he did - he chose a board that contains two Musketeer companions, which introduces an opportunity for, say, Bonnie Anne's fight to be going well enough that she could lend a helping hand to El Toro from afar. These are the types of possibilities I imagined with Pirate101's battle system, but rarely see in board creation.

Runner Up: 1,000 crowns - Simon A.
Simons' board has a victory condition that we rarely ever see in Pirate101 - destroy obstacles. And we certainly don't see it paired with the condition of surviving ten rounds. This battle has a lot of enemies, and a very particular path you have to take through. You must make the decision as to whether you'll fight sets of creatures one at a time or try to run your way through.

Runner Up: 1,000 crowns - Smart Steven Ovingham
Steven's board is a true minefield. With the only requirement being to survive ten rounds, it's not over-the-top tough, but it can still be deadly, with more enemies than usual and an explosive setup that could make for an interesting fight.
