Smuggler's Cove and Other New Updates

Pirate101 Smuggler's Cove

Pirate101 has released their latest updates into the Live Realm this morning! For a full list, click HERE. One thing that we didn't see in the Test Realm is the new Smuggler's Cove house. Check out a video tour plus other new updates you may have missed!

The Smuggler's Cove Video Tour

The Smuggler's Cove costs 10,000 crowns or 100,000 gold. For those who can't log in, don't own one, or don't want to preview it otherwise, I've put together a video tour of the house. Take a look!

4v4 PvP

This is the first house to include a 4v4 PvP arena, as opposed to the usual 1v1. It's a large space in which to battle, and this allows for private PvP. Any number of players can enter now, so you can still do 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, or even 2v1, 3v2, or 4v3.

Wishing Well: Daily Rewards

Yet another way this home revolutionizes housing in Pirate is through its addition of a daily reward mechanism. This one is a little unique. At first, it's blocked by a stone. However, if you activate a gear in a nearby room, it will raise your skeletal friend in a cage up out of the water, causing a cannonball to roll down a track and into the sand, bringing two sandbags up to remove the boulder blocking your path. Then, you can enter and use the well for a gold reward. Mine was 1800 or so.

The only issue? It's booby-trapped! The door closes when using the well! (Not to worry, it'll open shortly or you can likely walk through it from the inside.)

The Lighthouse

One of the things that's cool about Pirate is that they're often using lights like actual lights. That is, they're not just rays of sunshine or soft-edged spheres of yellow or white, but instead light up an area. There's no better example of this than the lighthouse in the Smuggler's Cove. As the beam rotates around, everything is lit up. It's beautiful, and one of my favorite parts of the area.

New in the Crown Shop!

As with any new update, Pirate101 smuggled in some additional items to the Crown Shop, outside of the Smuggler's Cove and ship cabin dividers (all available for gold) and the Arena, of course.

Pets and Potential Hybrids

Among the new items are two pets. One is the Jungle Toad, which has been known for some time now, but which has never previously had a first-generation version available, and certainly not outside a drop. What new talents could this pet have? It costs 7000 crowns in the Crown Shop.

Pirate101 Iguana Pet

The NEW new pet is the Iguana. For 8000 crowns, you can buy this brand-new, red-and-green reptile to add to your collection. At his current price, I'd not be surprised if he had some cool new talents. Even more exciting than that, though, is the fact that he looks so much like the Frilled Lizard in the Morphing Tent. I'm guessing he's one of the pets involved in creating that lizard.

Old Mount, New Buying Options

The Jaguar mount has long been available from the Tribal Crew Pack, but can now be purchased from the Crown Shop under the name "Jaunty Jaguar" for 6500 crowns. This is an interesting concept, as it could mean that pack mounts in Pirate101 may eventually become available for purchase from the shop. That makes sense given that, while they may be one of the main items in Wizard, they're not what most Pirates are after. It's the companions we want.

But Wait, There's More!

There are a couple of additional changes that are probably why the update took a few days after the Test Realm went down to finish up. Take a look!

Increased Scrip Drops

Alura Silver reports having received 270 scrip in just two hours. Now imagine a whole pack of people farming ships! It looks like drop rates have increased somewhat in comparison to the rates in the Test Realm, including in the Smuggler's Arena.

The Black Market

Okay, so there aren't any changes to the Black Market, but it's up and running, and a huge part of this test realm! The introduction of scrip and these items could pave the way for several new systems, including ranked PvP, in the future. Check out my thoughts on the Test Realm version HERE.

What do you think of the new updates? Thanks for reading and see you in the Spiral!
