"The Unknown Pet Files," Question of the Week, and Interesting Pictures

So everyone now knows about that infamous Fire Beetle, now available to the public, but several months back, finding it was one of the major things on peoples' to-do lists. Now we are unsure of new pets that we've either seen with our own eyes or seen pictures of. I now invite you to explore with me "The Unknown Pet Files," and gather all of the information on these now well-known pets that have yet to be discovered.

Wizard101 Central (see Links) users such as Deathshard have created hybrid-finding threads, though not all of them have been successful, and some people even frown upon them for whatever reason. ~Atticus~ began a project for the Zombie Piggle and got a response: "No ~Atticus~, This Only Worked For The Blaze Beetle Project. Please Don't Do This."

There are many pets who may or may not exist, who have been theorized, graphically modeled, and who have been hatched for for some time. Today, I'm looking at only a few.

The Zombie Piggle
The first of our investigations is probably the latest and great, the Zombie Piggle. This Piggle is easy to few, simply pull out your Golden Piggle from Wysteria side quests (these side quests begin at Belladonna Crisp) and place it in your house. Then click on your attic and click the House tab. Click on your Golden Piggle and this is what you see.

NAME: Zombie Piggle
AVAILABILITY STATUS: Able to be seen by anyone
HYBRID? Unknown
LOCATION SPOTTED: Golden Piggle in house
CURRENT PROJECTS: Two, The Zombie Piggle Project, Secret Hybrid Project (Find them on Wizard101 Central)

Using this glitch, one can view the most basic form of a pet. For instance, the Dark Crow is a Sunbird. All dragon pets are a basic Dragon. The Thunder Colossus is just a Colossus. This would suggest that the Zombie Piggle was created before/at a similar time as the Golden Piggle released with Wysteria. The Secret Hybrid Project suggests that the mix will likely be a Piggle/Golden Piggle and a Zombie/Death Pet. The Zombie Piggle Project, currently with ten members, is trying different combination at the moment to attempt to create this Zombie Piggle. Other users have stated that they've seen "Zombie Piggle" loading on their screen, thus revealing the name, although these are not always accurate. Whether or not the Zombie Piggle is simply an idea that is yet to be released, or one that slipped into the system with the Golden Piggle is unknown, but whether or not this pet can currently be obtained, I'll guarantee you that people will try.

The Balance Scarab
Our next pet of interest is the Balance Scarab. Using the same glitch as above, we've exposed what is supposed to be a Life Scarab, as you can see in the picture.

NAME: Balance Scarab, unconfirmed
AVAILABILITY STATUS: Able to be seen by anyone
HYBRID? Likely, Unknown
LOCATION SPOTTED: Life Scarab in house
CURRENT PROJECTS: One, The Secret Hybrid Project (Find it on Wizard101 Central)

Using the same glitch as above, we've revealed the Balance Scarab. It has the same name, but its picture is lacking the Life details and colors. Because the Life Scarab has been around for some time, the Balance Scarab is probably a hybrid from some hatching combination. The Secret Hybrid Project suggests that this pet is a mix of a Scarab/Death Scarab and a Dragon/Balance Pet. This pet was apparently in the beta testing, so it may have simply gotten lost, and is waiting to be discovered by eager hatchers all over the spiral.

The Ice Beetle
Our next pet is a little less easily seen, but still uses the same concepts as above. This pet is the Ice Beetle, seen by those with the Rain Beetle in their house.

NAME: Ice/Frost Beetle, unconfirmed
AVAILABILITY STATUS: Able to be seen by anyone
HYBRID? Likely, Unknown
LOCATION SPOTTED: Rain Beetle in house
CURRENT PROJECTS: One, The Secret Hybrid Project (Find it on Wizard101 Central)

This pet is also likely a hybrid, as the pet used to view it has been around for some time. Using the Rain Beetle, it's fairly easily seen. The Secret Hybrid project suggests that it is a mix between a Scarab Pet and an Ice Pet. Because of its resemblance to a Balance Scarab, that may be one of the required pets, thus finding one of these pets might lead to the next. The Ice Beetle was once seen in the Test Realm, but never in the live realm. Even in the test realm, it was only seen once, meaning this elusive pet could have easily slipped into the Live Realm without anyone noticing, or perhaps it never made the cut, to be lost in the Test realm forever.

The Storm Bird
The next pet to be seen is the Storm Bird! This pet is a little bit harder to put a finger on. One person once received this pet after losing items and was told that it would be a crafted pet in the future, however, it was later supposedly taken and the person was left with nothing but pictures to remember the bird.

NAME: Storm Bird
AVAILABILITY STATUS: Only in pictures
HYBRID? Not likely, unknown
LOCATION SPOTTED: One user
CURRENT PROJECTS: None

The Storm Bird isn't a hybrid, or probably isn't anyway. It is now missing, except for pictures. FuzzyWuzzy on Wizard101 Central (see Links) was the person reported having one, but it was then, as KI put it, "un-gifted." They replaced it with an Epic Sunbird. KI did say "isn't yet officially available in game..." so it may well be available for crafting in the future, but for now, will likely remain lost.

The Armored Skeleton
This next pet is the Armored Skeleton. This pet was once seen in beta testing, and later given to players who lost items in a glitch. Whether or not it was recalled like the Storm Bird is unknown.

NAME: Armored Skeleton
AVAILABILITY STATUS: Only in pictures
HYBRID? Unlikely, unknown
LOCATION SPOTTED: Beta and several users
CURRENT PROJECTS: One, The Secret Hybrid Project

The statistics show that the Armored Skeleton automatically gives 1% power pip chance, in addition to four talents. It was supposedly a crafted pet as well. It looks similar to a Skeleton Warrior, but with armor. The Secret Hybrid Project suggests that it may be a mix of Skeletal Warrior/Death Pet and a Blue Banshee/Ice Pet, although, like the Storm Bird, this pet is probably yet to be released, if it even "made the cut" and didn't get removed altogether.

The Steel Golem
Moving on, we have our Steel Golem. The Steel Golem pet looks like the boss, Potbelly, in Marleybone. It was seen in Beta, and supposedly once afterward.

NAME: Steel Golem
AVAILABILITY STATUS: Only in pictures?
HYBRID? Unknown
LOCATION SPOTTED: Beta and several users
CURRENT PROJECTS: Two, The Secret Hybrid Project, The Steel Golem Project

The Steel Golem is one of the more interesting of these pets, it is certainly quite appealing. The Secret Hybrid Project suggests that it may be any combination of  the Clockwork Golem, Spider Golem, a Golem Pet, Balance Pet, Storm Pet, and/or Fire Pet. Professor Greyrose herself has directly or indirectly stated that this pet does exist, so we need to be going after it! The Steel Golem Project suggests that it may be any of the following combinations: "Brass golem with storm or fire pet, Wood golem with storm or fire pet, Clockwork golem with storm or fire, Spider golem with storm or fire pet, Or golem pet with another golem pet." See further information below in "The List."

The next few pets were seen in a Cartoon Network Pet Promo. You can see three pets of interest here.
Several pets of interest

NAME: Red Ghoul
AVAILABILITY STATUS: Only in pictures?
HYBRID? Likely, Unknown
LOCATION SPOTTED: Cartoon Network Promo
CURRENT PROJECTS: None

The Red Ghoul is possibly a future crafted pet, or maybe a hybrid.

NAME: White Ghost
AVAILABILITY STATUS: Only in pictures?
HYBRID? Unknown
LOCATION SPOTTED: Cartoon Network Promo
CURRENT PROJECTS: None

The White Ghost might be a pet you overlooked, but keep in mind that you haven't previously seen a white ghost, only blue, green, etc. It may also be a crafted pet or hybrid, but no one has set out to find out.

NAME: Fire Elf
AVAILABILITY STATUS: Only in pictures?
HYBRID? Likely, Unknown
LOCATION SPOTTED: Cartoon Network Promo
CURRENT PROJECTS: None

The Fire Elf pet is in the same boat as the other two, it may or may not be a crafted pet or hybrid, but no one seems interested in finding out, or has any idea what combination would make this pet if it were a hybrid. There is an Ice Elf and a Storm Elf, so there may very well be a Fire Elf that is a mix of an Elf Pet and a Fire Pet, we just have yet to discover it.

The Secret Hybrid Project is also after many other pets including the Red Ghost, Ice Bat, Death Imp, Magma Man, Myth Unicorn, Death Unicorn, Storm Spider, Myth Spider, Balance Spider, Myth Banshee, Balance Banshee, Life Ninja, and Myth Scarab, although most of these are theories based on other pets and their schools, not  any facts or pictures.

Now comes one of the most interesting things I've happened upon, which I refer to as "The List." This was a list of pets that will be... I'll let Professor Greyrose explain:

"The next time you log into the Test Realm - any pets that you haven't already leveled up will 'convert' to a specific age. Here's a chart to help you figure out what age your pet will be when they hatch on the Test Realm. Please note, these are not necessarily the final conversion ages, we are still adjusting for balance. These are definitely not ALL the pets in the game, just the ones that players can currently obtain that will convert when you log in to the Test Realm."

Pets in this format are pets of interest or that are mentioned here in these files, and thus are confirmed to exist. They are written as Pet Name CONVERSION AGE.

As you can see, this list of some of the pets in Wizard101 is quite extensive and really interesting. Read through them and see if there's anything you aren't familiar with. I'll have you know, this list was written by a Wizard101 Central user who was later banned for an unknown reason, he never posted a screenshot of the direct list, so there might be a mistake, but the list is likely accurate, and proves that several of these pets exist, so starting hatching/searching! In the process of writing at least the first portion of "The Unknown Pet Files," I've actually learned a lot, and I hope you have too. If you're interested in reading more about these files, please let me know by commenting!

So before we go, I want to answer a question that I had sometime ago after reading an article on Wysteria. It was quite simple: Where in Wysteria is this?

I went through Wysteria on the Test Realm, but I didn't see this location at all. It certainly wasn't anywhere obvious. Then I decided that it must be part of a side quest, and I was right. While on the Test Realm, I'd only done the main quests, but now I ventured off into others and finally discovered the one place that was big enough to hold this area: The Library Archives. This quests is one you get from Hugo Chatterly after completing one from Belladonna Crisp requiring you to talk to him.

You actually go questing throughout the major archives to find a missing student who has summoned a beast that she doesn't know how to get rid of. Despite the fact that the archives are full of other students, you have to be the one to do the work, of course! You'll locate the student and defeat the beast, then further locate a textbook to finish the quest (don't forget the Pigswick Papers in the instance!).

The Library Archives, as I said, were huge! They had ramps going left and right between towers, but to my disappointment, you couldn't exactly go exploring, it was actually one straight path, and half of the archives aren't accessible.

To the left I've offered a picture of me exploring the Library Archives and getting excited to see the different areas, but, well... you read about how that worked out.

Well, that concludes the question for this... time frame.

I was messing around in Wysteria, when I discovered something interesting that I call "delayed animations." If you hold the top bar labelled Wizard101 on your screen (this can be seen in the picture above), then animations stop and your screen is frozen until you let go of it, at which point the animations have to catch up. This can be used for a variety of things, but it was specifically interesting where battles were concerned because you could get a shot of both the spell in action, and of your wizard casting the school symbol in the background, which makes a great Wizard101 Central signature, or a nice avatar.

To the right are two pictures I took, one of a Hobgoblin casting a Scarab and one of me casting Skeletal Pirate. As you can see, you can get the spell in full view while getting yourself or someone else still casting the spell. It's nothing special, just a different, more interesting way of taking your spell pictures, and I thought I'd share.

And that concludes our blog post this time around, and might I say that this has been one of the longest posts I've done yet, if not the longest, but also one of the most enjoyable. Don't think you've seen it all, because I've got more hidden files, stories, pet projects, and even some comics coming your way in the future!
